Velvet Crush

Velvet always seems to make its way onto the runway, and this year is no exception. With brands like Ralph Lauren, Anna Sui, and Diane Von Furstenberg accenting their collections with luxurious velvet gowns, soft blazers and  flowy kimonos, velvet can be incorporated into any outfit whether its an off-duty look or for the evening.

Trending: Menswear

Probably the most popular trend for Fall and Winter this year is menswear. I love that the menswear trend this season takes on the structural aspect and tailored looks, but doesn’t go so far as suspenders and ties. –It still has a little bit of femininity.  The great thing about menswear is that it doesn’t necessarily have to be a head-to-toe look. Instead of wearing a pair of wideleg jeans, you could opt for a pair of tailored trousers, or substitute pumps for oxfords. My favorite menswear inspired piece is the tailored coat. It is structured and clean looking with out being too masculine. I have a feeling menswear will be a reining trend for a while.

Free People November Catalog: Fire

My favorite section from the Free People November Catalog is Fire. It encompasses the warmth of a home during the holidays, and is what I would say  represents me the best. I love the clusters of henna candles on the stove and hand painted bells hanging on the wall. Philadelphia native, Tracy Radcliffe, designs and hand-makes beautiful wraps like the one pictured below. They are so cozy looking! I am also obsessed with the way that the slips are hanging in the window…the sunlight illuminates through the garments and shows off every detail! There isn’t one part of this section that I dislike and I can’t wait to finally get the print version in my hands! You can shop the catalog here.
